If your business is spending too much and it’s time to cut down on costs, we suggest that you take a look at your printing. Paper documents, while once incredibly important for businesses, take up a lot of space and spent precious assets that could be used elsewhere. Today, we’re going to discuss how to eliminate printing in the workplace.

Let’s think about all of the costs associated with printing. Not only does your business have to acquire printers, paper, ink, toner and everything else required to do the printing, but you also have to have filing cabinets or systems in place to withhold your printed information. And what about the time needs to maintain, file, sort or manage devices?

Let’s see three ways you can adjust your printing habits to cut down on costs:

Upgrade Your Printers

If you are still using ink-jet printers, we want you to think about if laser printers would benefit your business better. Laser printers are not only more efficient but they can actually cost you less money in the long run because they last a lot longer than ink-jet printers do.

Manage Your Resources More Efficiently

If you can’t cut out printing entirely, you can still assess your resources and how they are being spent, so you can make some budget helping changes. You should be monitoring your printing resources so you are not over-purchasing. You can actually save money by adjusting settings on your computers and printers to eliminate waste so you can store just the right amount without running out of space. We’d also recommend that you use a print management application so you can limit the amount of printing each individual on your team can do. Instead of allowing your employees to print whatever they want, a limit will keep them in line so they only print what they actually need to. This can help save on paper and ink.

Go Paperless

Keeping track of physical documents is a thing of the past. There are so many ways for you to store your documents in secure and safe ways in digital environments. This way of storage actually will make your business so much easier and will allow your team to have access to what they need from anywhere. Does someone need something in a filing cabinet? They have to go. Is it in the cloud? They can access it when they need to.
