Downloading Google Files: What Formats Can I Download In?

Google Workspace is an incredible tool that allows you to get so much done in one place. But even so, you might be wondering how you can download your files and take them somewhere else, or send them out to someone. Sharing the link is not always plausible so we’re going to talking about downloading Google files and how you can download them in any format. 

What Files Can I Download?

Depending on which Google App you are using, the available file types might be a little different, but they will coincide with the most popular formats for that file type. Here is a breakdwon for Docs, Sheets and Slides:

Docs allows you to download in:

  • Microsoft Word (.docx)
  • OpenDocument Format (.odt)
  • Rich Text Format (.rtf)
  • PDF Document (.pdf)
  • Plain Text Format (.txt)
  • Web Page (.html, zipped)
  • EPUB Publication (.epub)

Sheets allows you to download in:

  • Microsoft Excel (.xlsx)
  • OpenDocument (.ods)
  • PDF (.pdf)
  • Web Page (.html)
  • Comma Separated Values (.csv)
  • Tab Separated Values (.tsv)

Slides allows you to download in:

  • Microsoft PowerPoint (.pptx)
  • ODP Document (.odp)
  • PDF Document (.pdf)
  • Plain Text (.txt)
  • JPEG image (.jpg, current slide)
  • PNG image (.png, current slide)
  • Scalable Vector Graphics (.svg, current slide)
